Whether you are looking to be competitive in judo, interested in learning about the sport or simply wanting to get in shape, our Judo Basics class is for you. All ages and skill levels are welcomed. No need to have a gi (Judo uniform) for your first class. Simply come check us out and learn more about Judo.

Our Hollis Park location is coached by George Weers, Blaine Duhs and Stefan Habsburg. Our Canton location is coached by Mitch Williams and Joe Taylor. Kids are welcome and parents are encouraged to watch class and learn more about the sport. If you are already involved in a combat sport, Judo is a great asset to your training. For those wanting to get in shape, Judo is a full body workout with an emphasis on cardio. Prepare to sweat.

CLASS FEES: Each location class fees are handled by the Recreation Center that hosts our club. Hollis Park is generally $30/month or $6/per class and Canton YMCA is generally $40/month or $8/class. First class is free.

Competition Training

Hollis Park

Tues and Thurs

8:00 AM

Our morning classes are designed specifically for those interested in competing in Judo. Mostly randori (sparing), these classes are favorites of our brown and black belts. If you have already done competitive Judo, compete in another combat sport or are visiting from another club, we would love to have you on the mat. These classes are also great for those in the law enforcement and military. A rougher training session, these classes will push you to the limit.

CLASS FEES: Each location class fees are handled by the Recreation Center. Hollis Park is generally $30/month or $6/per class and Canton YMCA is generally $40/month or $8/class. First class is free. No gi (judo uniform) needed for your first visit.

Our kids classes take place during our Judo Basics classes. Kids Judo is tailored to not only teach the sport of Judo, but also physical awareness and respect for others. Judo's emphasis on teaching smaller players to be capable of holding their own against much larger opponents, is perfect to teach children how to avoid bullying. Our coaches demand respect from all of our students no matter how small. This insistence of mutual benefit and respect helps kids attention span, physical awareness and overall confidence.

With many opportunities to compete locally and nationally, Judo is a great sport for families to get involved in. Parents are encouraged to learn the rule set of competitive Judo and join the team as we travel for tournaments. Whether your child is looking for a competitive sport or simply for a way to burn off energy, our Kids Judo class is the place for you and your child.

CLASS FEES: Each location class fees are handled by the Recreation Center. Hollis Park is generally $30/month or $6/per class and Canton YMCA is generally $40/month or $8/class. First class is free.
